Septic Design

There are 3 key factors to a proper septic system design:

  1. Soil type Identification - Through digging a test pit and conducting hydrolic testing, also known as a Perc test, we determine how much water the soil holds and how water travels through the soil

  2. Identifying limiting factors - Bedrock, high water table or impermeable soil can all be limiting factors that we need to identify. With a thorough onsite inspection, we can create a plan to overcome these factors.

  3. Space Requirments - Does the lot have suitable space for the appropriately sized system? Can we find a space which respects restrictive setback such as property lines, water wells, bodies of water, breakout areas and cuverts.

Septic Installation

Did you know that all septic system installations in B.C. need to be done by a Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner (ROWP) or by an Approved Person (i.e. Engineer). Luckily, our qualified staff have you covered through the process:

  1. Begin installation with an approved design.

  2. When installation is complete, we do verfiction testing to make sure the system functions properly and to the approved design specifications. Then we backfill the excavation.

  3. We issue a letter of certification, which is required to put the system into service and required to obtain an occupancy permit.

  4. We provide you with a maintenance plan and explain how your septic system works and how to maintain your system properly. If doing regular maintenance on a septic system doesn’t sound appealing to you don’t worry we have you covered.

Septic Maintenance

All septic systems are unique and have their own maintenance needs. Some common maintenance tasks are:

  • Assessing condition and cleaning effluent filters

  • Inspecting blower operation

  • Ensuring UV lamps are functional

  • Measuring sludge levels and determining proper pumping frequency
